Seoul is a huge city, so the best way to get from Incheon International Airport (ICN) into Seoul depends heavily on where you're staying.

For most travelers headed toward Seoul Station, we recommend the AREX Express Train. If an Airport Limousine bus stops near your hotel—particularly if you're staying in Myeongdong, central Seoul or Gangnam—the Airport Limousine can be even more convenient because you won't have to transfer with your luggage.

If you want the easiest possible door-to-door arrival, take an official taxi from the airport.

The Express Train runs from both Incheon Airport terminals directly to Seoul Station without intermediate stops.

2. Airport Limousine Bus — Best for Many Hotels ($$)

Don't overlook the Airport Limousine bus just because the train is faster.

For many visitors, this may actually be the easiest way to reach their accommodation. Airport Limousine buses serve neighborhoods throughout Seoul and stop near many major hotels and points of interest.

The buses are designed for airport travelers, with comfortable seating and luggage storage, so you don't have to haul suitcases through a subway transfer after a long flight.

Exact fares, stops and travel times vary by route and operator. Check the current route that serves your destination before traveling.

Tickets: Purchase your ticket at the designated airport ticket counter or ticket machine. At Terminal 2, passengers using Airport Limousine routes must purchase a ticket before boarding.

Best for: Myeongdong, central Seoul, Gangnam and travelers staying near a limousine bus stop

Pros: Comfortable, luggage-friendly and can take you much closer to your hotel than the train

Cons: Travel time varies with Seoul traffic, and the best route depends entirely on your destination.

3. Taxi — Best for Door-to-Door Convenience ($$$)

If you want the simplest arrival after a long flight, take an official taxi directly from Incheon Airport to your accommodation.

Follow the airport signs to the designated taxi stands outside the terminal. Avoid drivers or call vans soliciting passengers inside the airport and use the official taxi stands instead.

The fare depends on your destination, traffic and time of travel. Incheon Airport to Seoul is exempt from the usual boundary surcharge, but night surcharges apply between 22:00 and 04:00, ranging from approximately 20% to 40% depending on the time.

Deluxe / Jumbo Taxi

Deluxe taxis and larger taxis are also available if you'd like a more premium vehicle or need additional space for passengers and luggage. They have a higher base fare than standard taxis.

International taxis with foreign-language support are also available from designated airport taxi stands.

If you're headed to Hongdae, transferring through Gimpo Airport, or simply want the most economical option, take the AREX All-Stop Train.

Unlike the Express Train, it makes stops between Incheon Airport and Seoul Station—including Gimpo International Airport and Hongik University (Hongdae).

This distinction matters: if you're staying in Hongdae, don't pay extra for the AREX Express. The Express doesn't stop there, while the All-Stop Train takes you directly to Hongik University Station.

Fare to Seoul Station: ₩4,750 from Terminal 1 / ₩5,350 from Terminal 2

Fares are lower if you're getting off before Seoul Station.

Tickets: Purchase a single-use transportation card at the station or use a compatible prepaid transportation card. Single-use cards can now be purchased by credit card as well as cash.

Best for: Hongdae, Gimpo Airport transfers and budget-conscious travelers

Pros: Inexpensive, frequent and useful for several destinations before Seoul Station

Cons: Makes multiple stops and is less comfortable with lots of luggage than the Express Train or Airport Limousine bus.

Which Should You Take?

Seoul Station: Take the AREX Express. It's nonstop, predictable and takes just 43 minutes from Terminal 1 or 51 minutes from Terminal 2.

Hongdae: Take the AREX All-Stop Train. Hongik University is directly on the route, so there's little reason to take the Express to Seoul Station and double back.

Myeongdong / City Hall / Gwanghwamun: Compare the Airport Limousine bus with AREX Express + a short transfer. If a bus stops close to your hotel, the bus may be more convenient with luggage.

Gangnam / Jamsil: Check the Airport Limousine bus first. Because these neighborhoods are far from Seoul Station, going into Seoul Station on AREX and then transferring across the city isn't always the most convenient option.

For maximum convenience anywhere in Seoul: Take an official taxi, particularly if you're traveling with several people or a lot of luggage.
